About Us

Mission
The mission of the Christian Professional Chamber is to unite, support and equip its members for business success and marketplace impact from a biblical worldview.

Vision
We will help grow our members' influence and resources in the marketplace by combining authentic, Christ-like behavior, accountability and sophisticated marketing tools.
We will act as a connector to unite and complement like-minded organizations with the goal of impacting our community with a biblical worldview.

Strategy & Offerings
Joining a rising, national trend of faith-at-work initiatives, the Christian Professional Chamber brings what BusinessWeek called "the ultimate competitive advantage:" the wealth of proven marketplace strategies found in the Scriptures.

Our efforts are not only aimed at growing our members' businesses, but also adding value to the lives they come in contact with on a daily basis.

Rather than duplicating existing resources, the Christian Professional Chamber serves as a clearinghouse for business and community resources, adding a few original programs and tools to the mix.

We pursue our mission by focusing on four areas:

1. EDUCATION
We will provide our members with biblical wisdom, knowledge and resources so they can deepen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and model Christ-like behavior in their business dealings. We also will provide and/or point members to practical tools and insight in key business areas including finance, personnel, marketing, technology and more. We do so through business events and seminars, online tools, mentoring and the Christian Professional magazine.

2. VISIBILITY
We utilize print, online, media and event marketing to promote our members and the values they represent to the central Indiana community. The original Christian Phone Book, celebrating more than 20 years in the greater Indianapolis area, and its companion web site (ChristianPhoneBook.com) now doubles as the Chamber's membership directory.

3. SAVINGS
We continuously work to bring members savings through discounted services and strategic partnerships, including affordable marketing, member-to-member discounts, complimentary business coaching, legal and conflict conciliation assistance.

4. ACCOUNTABILITY
As we partner with each member, we recognize our success and integrity are intimately tied with theirs--hence the need for accountability for all parties.

Before we endorse and promote member businesses to the public, members agree to operate in consistency with biblical precepts. In the event integrity or service issues should arise, we work alongside individual members to correct performance problems and restore them to excellence by connecting with needed resources or mentors.

The point is not to make our organization an exclusive one, but to fulfill our collective promise to the central Indiana community.

What makes a business "Christian"? Dr. Stevens answers the pervasive question of what makes a business "Christian" by offering ten distinctives.

Out of 52 parables Jesus told, 45 had a workplace context. Of 40 divine interventions recorded in Acts, 39 were in the marketplace.

"Jesus' parables show that He was thoroughly familiar with the marketplace and its operation. His examples dealt with construction (Mt. 7:24-27); wine making (Lk. 5:37, 38); farming (Mk. 4:2-20); treasure hunting (Mt. 13:44); ranching (Mt. 18:12-14); management and labor (Mt. 20:1-16); family-owned businesses (Mt. 21:28-31); hostile take-overs (Lk. 20:9-19); return on investments (Mt. 25:14-30); future markets (Lk. 12:16-21); crop yield (Mk. 26-32); management criteria (Lk. 12:35-48); the need for research (Lk. 14:24-35); bankruptcy (Lk. 15:11-16); the advantage of leverage (Lk. 16:1-13); and venture capital in high-risk situations (Lk. 19:11-27), [among others]."
